MacTips Sold to Apple Gazette

After 3 years of writing Mac tips, its time for me to move on. I’ve sold MacTips to the Apple Gazette.

It’s fairly obvious over the past few months things have been slipping here at MacTips, with the latest post being made back in July.

Unfortunately I just don’t have the time to dedicate to MacTips that I’d like. It takes a lot of hard work to keep MacTips running and I’ve simply run out of hours.

This move is a good one for MacTips. The staff at the Apple Gazette is very smart and dedicated. They’ll be able to provide the focus MacTips needs to become a big site. All of you will get your Mac tips back, and I get to see MacTips live on.

I started this site when I switched from Windows nearly 4 years ago as a small side project. I’m extremely proud to see what its grown into and am excited to see what the future holds.

To the future of MacTips!

I have felt 'helpless' for 2 months !! I have Mactips as one of the links that opens automatically when I open Safari every morning. First, I figured you were slacking, then I figured you might be sick, then I thought "okay maybe he's on vacation for the summer", and then finally I starting thinking " I bet he sold the site".... and presto... there it is....

Well, Apple Gazette has some pretty big shoes to fill. Mactips is certainly my favorite site for the most simple "OMG duh I didn't know I could do that with my mac" site. My fave tip has always been the Apple-Shft-4 to command screen capture anything on the screen into an instant .png file. I just love that - I use it all the time. i wish you could make it save into a .jpeg - but I deal with the .png.

..for that tip alone, it was worth reading ! someone should post that one again, it's so easy to use - and where in teh world does apple even tell you about it ? nowhere - up to people like Mactips to give us the inside on stuff like that.

Good luck Apple Gazette - I will keep the site coming up each morning again when I open Safari - and I hope you keep up the work that he has done and continue to build on it.
