Having Phun with Physics Simulations

A couple weeks ago I stumbled on Phun, a Physics simulator built by Emil Ernerfeldt for his thesis project.

Phun acts as a physics playground. Inside Phun you can setup simulations and run them with all sorts of variables, such as gravity and air friction.

Phun even supports water! While it is a little rough around the edges, Phun is extremely–well…fun!

If I had this in school I probably would have done much better in Physics. At least I would have been more entertained.

Here’s a quick demo I put together showing a couple different simulations.

Eerie. I just downloaded this app today. Some of the tools in Phun are simply amazing, especially once you start playing around with friction, spring constants, and the like.

  2. Discerptor,

Yes I agree. I couldn't even figure out some of the advanced stuff.

I'm sure there are some scientific things you can do with this--I just don't have that knowledge :).

Well, it's not the sort of advanced tool you would do simulations for an actual research project with. But I think it provides a good amount of fun for geeks and could probably see some use in a teaching environment.
