Copy and Paste Without Styles

200805012205.jpg

I often find myself copy-pasting out of online resources when I’m typing research papers. The issue with this is that I have to go back and reformat the text in order to achieve a homogenous font style. Nowadays, this problem is no more.

Reader Luke, recently submitted a tip informing me that if instead of just “Command+C” and then “Command+V”, I were to hit “Command+C” then “Command+Shift+Option+V”, then the copied font will be pasted in the same format and style as the rest of the font.

I've been annoyed by the style-pasting behaviour in the past, too. Thanks for posting this.

There ought to be a way to have the OS default to this, no?

What I would like is to have:
    “Command+Shift+Option+V” for paste with format
    and
    “Command+V” for paste plain text

To paste a format but not the text:
Push "command + option + c" to copy a format of a text
Push "command + option + v" to paste the format

-> Gustavo Delfino: Yeah me too ;-)

But at all it is a shame that this handy short cut only works with Apple Products and not with MS Office, where I would need it the most for Uni.

One (kind of) solution is windows is to paste via notepad - not exactly ideal though!

That is brilliant! Very handy. But I almost broke my fingers trying to do it!

Remember to select the text you want to format and then paste the format.

    hope that helps!
