Setting a Default Operating System for Boot Camp

While switching between operating systems, I’ve never been able figure out how Boot Camp decides which OS to run. Sometimes it would boot OS X, and sometimes Windows–it seemed completely random.

After browsing through the system preferences I came across the answer. Go to System Preferences -> Startup Disk and you can set a default system.

Now OS X will always boot by default. To override this, hold Option while your computer starts.

The statup OS is also listed in the Windows preference settings.
In Windows, you can also click the BootCamp icon in the System Tray and select re-start in OS X

  2. Tony,

    Thanks--good to know!

  3. You can also hold down the Option key at boot and choose whichever OS you would like. This way you can override the default OS without changing it.

Is there a way to display the "choice" screen (by default) when computer is started without holding the option key?
