Contact Actions in Mail.app

Picture 2.jpg

If you scroll over a contact in Mail, a little arrow will appear in the bottom-right corner. If you click the arrow, you can perform a number of actions using the contact such as “Search in Spotlight”.

One of the more useful features is the ability to create a smart mailbox that automatically collects all the mail regarding that certain contact. For example, I made a work folder that contains all the emails Brad sends me. Other ideas for smart boxes include one for friends, one for family, and one for mailing lists.

  1. Nice tip, I really like taking advantage of Smart Mailboxes in a similar way as I would use Labels in Gmail.

I believe this has been around well before Leopard Mail though, can anyone confirm this?

  2. Yeah, I never used mail 'til I got Leopard though
