Up until today unlocking version 1.1.3 was near/actually impossible (depending on how lucky you are), however some guy released this app available here, and now all you have to do is download, open the app and click on “Start”.
Along with the hack comes: ability to use another SIM card from any carrier and country, ability to install 3rd party applications and customizations, and also to not pull out your iPhone and flash that off but also show off your hack and apps and other customizations.

Note: look on the sidebar for what version you want to download under “ZIPHONE 2.2 FINAL DOWNLOADS”, for most cases you’ll probably want the OSX GUI Version, and make sure you have the settings; Jailbreak and Activate checkboxes selected.
