Change 1Password Icon in Web Browsers (with Firefox as Example)

I use 1Password all the time to store and generate long and strong passwords. However the little icon that 1Password installs for Firefox doesn’t match with my Safari-like theme (Proto) that I have installed for Firefox. To change the icon so that it matches with Safari’s here a little hack I did:

  1. Go to /Applications –> Right click on 1Password –> Show Package Contents
  2. From there navigate to Contents/BrowserToolbarButtons/1P
  3. Duplicate both the original Firefox icon (filename: Firefox24.png) and Safari’s (Safari.png).
  4. Delete the original Firefox icon (Firefox24.png) and change the file name of Safari’s icon (currently Saafari copy.png) to Firefox24.png.

Restart your browser and it’ll now look like so (rest of icons are from Proto theme):
Proto, Firefox and 1Password

Note: this will work with all browsers, just change the designated icon for the specific browser.
