Make Old Extensions work in Firefox 3 Beta

Many of you have probably been wanting to use the new, faster and better looking Firefox 3 Beta, however it can’t use your favorite extension(s) and you’re stuck with Firefox 2. Thanks to this quick hack you can use the new FF3 Beta and still have your extensions.

  1. Open about:config in the address bar.
  2. Right click on the list and create a boolean: extensions.checkCompatibility
  3. Set its value to false.
  4. Restart browser.

Enjoy!

  1. I prefer to wait to the final version

  2. While it would nice to wait for updated versions, this is a great way to use Firefox 3 and still use your favorite plugins.

I actually just used this one Travis, nice tip.

  3. Thanks for this, I wanted to really test FF3 but without Firebug, I wouldn't touch it.

    Thanks once again :)

  4. Nice tip! I am going to try this one out real quick!
