A cool feature that has been around in OS X for a while now is “fast user switching.” Used primarily for when multiple users share one computer, it is a way to quickly switch from user to user without logging one off.
To enable “fast user switching,” open System Preferences. From under the “System” heading, select “Accounts.” At the bottom of the left side-bar select “Login Options.” Then, simply check the box beside “Enable fast user switching” and select how you would like to view user accounts from the drop-down menu.
Now, to switch users simply click on the user icon or name in the menu bar and select which you want to switch to!
