Quickly Save Text with Text Clippings

Drag-and-drop seems second nature on the Mac. From opening files to moving them–drag-and-drop is often the easiest method.

One feature you may not have known is dragging and dropping selected text. Not only can you drag-and-drop text in to other Applications–but you can quickly save your selected text to the Desktop.

Select some text and drag it to your desktop. OS X will save this for easy access later.

  1. I use this one pretty often, though I wish Apple could have made the clipping viewer much stronger...I can't even copy-paste out of it.

  2. It seems you can copy-paste out of it--it just doesn't show the selection. I'm not sure why Apple decided to do this--but select the text you want to copy then press Command+C.

Nothing will be highlighted, but the text will be copied.
