A great and simple keyboard shortcut in all Mac apps is Option-Delete. Use this shortcut while in a text box or document, and instead of one letter being deleted, the previous word is deleted.

A cool and efficient way to rewind and fast-forward Apple’s Quicktime Player is to scroll up and down while the cursor is in the Quicktime window. Scrolling up fast-forwards, and scrolling down rewinds the video.
