Here is a really cool tip showing how to change the colors of the calculator widget included with the OS. Props to A New Mac Tip Every Day for finding this trick on an ancient MacRumors forum thread.
Here is how it is done:
First, you find the Calculator widget file. Next, control-click it and select “Show Package Contents.” Inside the Images folder, there are two files entitled “Calculator.png” and “lcd-backlight.png.” To skin the widget, change these files to whichever you might want.
