If you have ever used iChat or Adium, you will know that they both have the ability to store each and every one of your chats transcripts. What frustrated me, is that after I realized the iChat’s flaws, and moved over to Adium (if you have not yet moved away from Apple’s iChat, refer to this post: Meet Adium, The Solution to Your Mac Instant Messenging Woes), I was unable to organize my old “iChats” together with Adium’s great transcript viewing system.
However, with the recent release of Adium 1.10, you are now able to transfer all of your old iChat transcripts into Adium to view together with the ones saved by Adium. It also gives you the ability to transfer your iChat accounts and statuses. Just select File>Import>iChat Accounts, Statuses, and Transcripts, and select which you want to import, and voila!
Even if continue to use iChat as your primary IM client, you should take advantage of Adium’s fantastic Chat Transcript Viewer.
