Quickly Access Safari Bookmarks Bar

The bookmarks bar has become a necessary item on my web browser for the greater part of my computing career (including that barbaric pre-mac period I don’t like speaking of :)). I’ve found it’s the quickest way to access websites you visit regularly.

If your unsure what a bookmarks bar is, here’s a screenshot of mine:

Recently I learned that in Safari, you can access these bookmarks even easier by pressing .

For example, pressing would launch Gmail, would launch MacTips, etc…

I’ve noticed that this doesn’t seem to work with folders, even when you turn “Auto-Click” on.

  1. Just checked this in Firefox, and in Firefox the same keys (Command + [1-x]) take you to the Firefox tab of that number.

  2. I had no idea. Thanks for the tip.
